Life Alliance was founded in 2004 and is owned by J. Allen Byrd, Jr. residing in North Wilkesboro, NC. Allen has been in the human service field for more than 25 years and began his career at 19 years of age as a paraprofessional direct care staff responsible for the direct assistance and teaching of daily living and self-help skills to consumers in a group home setting. Allen continued his career path while in college and was promoted to Job Coach where he was responsible for the oversight and assistance of individuals with developmental disabilities and physical limitations in obtaining job placement and receiving on-the-job training in various work environments. Another promotion allowed Allen to gain management experience as a Group Home Manager where he obtained skills in the supervision and training of employees coupled with the oversight of consumer care including logistics, budgeting, organizational, planning, and other management skills.

Finally, Allen became a Qualified Professional responsible for the oversight of consumer services and direct hiring, supervision, and training of paraprofessional employees in the field of Intellectually and Developmentally Delayed individuals. As a Qualified Professional, he was able to gain experience necessary to plan, implement, assess and track consumer service provision.
Allen earned a Masters Degree from Appalachian State University in Public Administration. His educational training and in-field experience working with children, adults and elderly with developmental disabilities, mental illness and substance abuse, Allen is eager to assist current and new families.
Life Alliance Supervisors, Coordinators, Qualified Professionals and Associate Professionals are responsible for the supervision of consumer needs and progress as well as the performance of paraprofessional direct care staff called Behavior Technicians. Management staffs are trained to track progress, ensure all policies and regulations of governing bodies are achieved by the organization through training and continuing education.
